Hi,

I was searching for FYP idea. Read the blog https://www.mechlectures.com/arduino-projects-list-final-year-students/ of this website. It encouraged me a lot to develop an arduino based project.

But I dont hav any prior experience of arduino.

Totally blank about this thing.

Will u answer me no matter if i ask silly basic questions.

 I am trying to learn it though but still will need help.

I bought arduino Mega2560.

also got a nice little LCD keypad shield along with it.

Brother i was happy.

the first thing i did connected LCD Keypad shield to Mega.

Connected A0 to A0, A1 t0 A1 and So. Like want to say Mounted it right on top of it.

Dumped Hello world from Examples< LiquidCrystal.

It was uploaded successfully but not working.

Dont let me to be discouraged so early plz.

 this is the code.
// include the library code:
#include <LiquidCrystal.h>

// initialize the library with the numbers of the interface pins
LiquidCrystal lcd(12, 11, 5, 4, 3, 2);

void setup() {
  // set up the LCD's number of columns and rows:
  lcd.begin(16, 2);
  // Print a message to the LCD.
  lcd.print("hello, world!");
}

void loop() {
  // set the cursor to column 0, line 1
  // (note: line 1 is the second row, since counting begins with 0):
  lcd.setCursor(0, 1);
  // print the number of seconds since reset:
  lcd.print(millis() / 1000);
}

Arduino is Indeed Fun once u get some hold of it.

i will come to ur question but first take my advice. Always see the datasheet of any arduino board or its shields availlable for it.

from datasheet u will get the connection Idea.

Now in ur case u has connected the arduino LCD keypad Shield to different pins and in example code these are connected differently.

U Have connected to 8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7 i.e RS pin 8, Enable to pin 9, d4 to pin 4, d5 to pin 5, d6 to pin 6, d7 to pin 7 and for example code connection should be  like this RS to 12,Enable to 11, D4 to 5, D3 to 4,D2 to 3 and D1 to 2.

Now either change ur code or ur connection.

Replace this line of Code >>>>LiquidCrystal lcd(12, 11, 5, 4, 3, 2);

with this one >>>>>>>LiquidCrystal lcd(8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7);

& BOOOM...

Ur code will work.

In case of any problem consult my video lecture on Arduino LAbview Interface in video tutorials section. I have connected LCD keypad shield the same way u did.

For ur third question see arduino Example Analog serial , digital serial etc.

dont hesitate to ask if u face any problem.

I would like to addup regarding ur third question. Use arduino default port (serial0).

If u need more than one serial port u would need to buy a usb to serial convertor for ur laptop or desktop(If u dont have builtin port)

and RS232 to Serial converters.

again check out it datasheet and specs./
